What is the Closing Line Value Calculator | CLV Betting Calculator?
The closing line calculator (CLV betting calculator) calculates the expected value of a bet when compared to the closing line odds of from the same betting market.
Closing line odds tend to be the most accurate predictions from sportsbooks as the most amount of information about an event is know just before the event starts.
By comparing the odds we placed our bet at against the closing line odds we are able to get a good indication of how profitable this bet would be long-term.
i.e. if we could place the same bet 1,000 times how much money would we make per bet?
You can learn more about closing line value in my ‘What is Closing Line Value’ article.
How to use the Closing Line Value Calculator
Before entering any odds into the CLV betting Calculator we first need to ensure that the odds format is set to the odds you are currently using.
You can select this from the drop down menu at the top of the calculator.
Once the odds format has been set we need to tell the calculator if we are betting on a 2-way market or a 3-way market. You can select this from the dropdown option to the right odds format dropdown.
After having set both of these options we want to enter the Bet Stake along with the odds of the bet we want to check the closing line value of.
The final piece of information that we need to enter into the calculator is the closing line odds for the betting market that we have bet on.
Important: In order to calculate the closing line value correctly, you need to enter the odds for the outcome you’re comparing in the Outcome One Odds box
Once the odds have been entered into the odds boxes, the profit margin and closing line value for the bet will be displayed at the bottom of the calculator below the ‘Closing Line Odds’ section.
